Dept. 38 Personnel Dossier

Name: Helena Morgan

Age: 33 SHY

ISC: Deity Incarnate

Abilities: Holds thrall over undeads. Can induce death.

Background:

Helena was discovered by Dept. 38 at the scene of the Dioran Massacre (see Report #88: The Dioran Massacre), of which she professed no memory despite being the sole survivor.

While returning to London-town in the custody of Sir David Rothschild and Charlotte Cassaday (see Report #292: London-town Vampire Hierarchy) the twelve-year-old Helena appeared to exhibit evidence of multiple-personality disorder.

Upon reaching Eastcrest headquarters (see Report #20: Goodfellow House) it was ascertained that Helena was the living incarnate of Hel, the Nordic Goddess of the Underworld (see Report #117: Resident Deities).

Investigations quickly established that the Goddess was not able to assume permanent control over Helena. It remains unknown whether this is due to a deficit in Hel's available energy reserves (see Report #11: Effects of the Reality Siphon) or due to some innate ability within Helena herself.

After remaining for several years at Goodfellow House, it was believed that the Goddess had fallen latent and Helena was provided with a new identity. She received training as a dental hygienist and remained in this role without incident for a number of years.

When Eastcrest required parlay with the Goddess (see Report #541: The Orchard), it was decided that an attempt would be made to awaken Hel within Helena's mind under controlled conditions. Despite repeated warnings from Chatravati Mayad, who had worked the most closely with Helena in order to render the Goddess dormant, the experiment went ahead.

Since that time Helena has been unable to return to her normal life, exhibiting several lapses during which Hel has assumed near-total control over Helena's faculties.

Helena is now an active member of Westcrest, where she remains under the continued mentorship of Chatravati Mayad. It is unknown what effect, if any, Helena's proximity to the Folkvangar (see Report #7: Folkvangar) may have on the Goddess inhabiting her body.
